White Mapi Paper
Mapi paper (麻纸/Mázhǐ) is an ancient, highly durable type of Chinese artisanal paper crafted primarily from mulberry bark bast fibers. Celebrated as one of the oldest forms of paper in human history, it is defined by its rugged, earthy texture and exceptional physical strength. Thanks to the incredibly long inner bast fibers of the paper mulberry tree, it resists tearing, punctures, and water degradation far better than standard wood-pulp papers. It has a neutral pH, meaning it does not become brittle, yellow, or decay easily over hundreds of years. Raw mapi paper typically ranges from a pale cream or off-white to a rich, earthy tan color. This white sheet offers the palest expression of the paper, a clean, luminous neutral that diffuses light beautifully.
