White Gypsum
Gypsum is one of the oldest building materials known, a soft, naturally occurring mineral prized since antiquity for the smooth, luminous plaster it yields. Worked in its raw state, it takes on a soft, chalky matte surface and a warm, off-white tone that reads as quietly architectural, at once ancient and modern. Its appeal lies in that restraint: no gloss, no grain, just a pure, sculptural solidity that lets form and shadow do the talking. In a lamp, gypsum comes into its own, the mineral glows softly from within and casts a warm, diffused, almost candlelit light, while its matte surface melts into the wall or ceiling around it. Sculptural yet understated, it brings a sense of calm, elemental craft to any piece it shapes.
